As we continue to grow year on year, we’re now looking to add a hybrid Project Manager / Scrum Master to our delivery team.  The role is a great opportunity to demonstrate leadership and ownership of the portfolio and to support the technical team deliver against its commitments.

This role is York-based, but with remote working on a flexible basis.

Duties and responsibilities of the role:

The larger part of the role is the Project Manager element, where you will play a vital role in providing a high level of service, with a professional approach, determination and ambition.  You will lead all project level dialogue with the client, suppliers and partners delivering projects from start to finish; planning, executing and supervising projects to meet management’s strategic objectives and ensuring project delivery to quality, within budget and on time. 

As part of the Scrum Master element, you will work with the technical team to embed agile practices, optimise team performance and lead the team’s day-to-day dynamic programme landscape.  The role demands balancing pragmatic application of agile practices while continually challenging the team, Product Owner and organisation to improve its way of working.

Key Skills and Experience of the Project Manager / Scrum Master:

  • Able to develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload
  • Excellent presenter and networker with the ability to deal effectively with a range of audiences and stakeholders by engaging in proactive and open stakeholder dialogue
  • Excellent communicator, proficient in customer relations and competent at liaising effectively with all project stakeholders 
  • A passionate and energetic leader, able to engage, communicate, guide and to help grow individuals and the team by building strong working relationships
  • Excellent facilitator, someone who can build, protect and shield the team from outside distractions
  • Able to work autonomously and lead decision making
  • 5+ years Project Management experience
  • 2+ years Scrum Master experience
  • Experience working in a technology company is highly desirable
  • Experience of working on rail projects or the rail sector is desirable
